Paintball Fields: Fun for the Whole Family
![]() |
In the recent years, paintball has become a well-liked sport for many people. Normally players are divided into teams with the object of the game being to eliminate members of the opposing team by hitting them with a paintball. There are different variations of game play, including timed versions and capture the flag scenarios. Paintball is played at facilities known as paintball fields, which are usually outdoor locations.
These fields offer players a variety of great benefits. Situated on acres of land, many of them feature a variety of different terrains and challenges for teams to overcome. For example, the Skirmish company has fields located around the nation that include castle setups, pipe bunkers, wooded areas, futuristic setups, and more. Most fields offer a variety of different packages, for individuals and groups. Many offer season passes, which are ideal for frequent paintballers. Often, fields can be rented for events like birthday parties, youth groups and corporate excursions. Sometimes, fields host paintball tournaments.
When you're ready to start playing paintball, you will need some equipment. First, you'll need a paintgun, also known as a marker. There are pump markers, semi-automatic markers, and even electronic markers. You'll find that markers are available at a wide variety of prices from affordable to extravagant. Markers are powered by either cartridges or tanks of CO2 or compressed air. You'll also need paintballs, of course. Paintballs come in a wide variety of colors and calibers, and are basically gelatin capsules filled with paint that burst upon impact. You might also want a hopper for loading paintballs and a ball carrier for spares. Many fields offer equipment rental for players who don't have their own gear.
Safety is always of utmost importance when playing paintball. Dress in comfortable clothing that covers as much skin as possible. Chest and neck protectors should be layered over clothing, and a safety mask with goggles should always be worn. Some players also wear gloves to protect their hands. A barrel plug is also an important piece of paintball safety equipment which prevents paintballs from being fired when the marker is not in use.
To locate paintball fields in your area, check your local Yellow Pages. There are thousands of fields around the United States, so you're sure to find one near you!
