Choosing between Paintball Sniper Rifles
![]() |
You're probably already aware that in order to play paintball, you need a paintgun (also often called a marker.) But did you know there are all different types of paintguns available? You can find pumps, semi-automatics, and those that are electronic. There are different sizes as well, including pistol and rifle. If you're interested in being a paintball sniper, you will definitely need a rifle designed for this purpose. Here are some tips for choosing between paintball sniper rifles.
The first thing you'll need to establish is how much you have to spend on a marker. There are markers out there that cost anywhere from $50 to more than $1000. Unless you're ready to spend that much for the very best marker out there, try to choose a moderately priced yet high quality model. Your sniper marker should be made from metal, not plastic. One alternative to purchasing a sniper rifle marker is to upgrade a regular marker with a new sniper barrel. When it comes to selecting a barrel, go for one that's around thirteen inches in length. Make sure that the paintballs you're using are designed for the size barrel you have. Also, you may want to choose a barrel that is designed for low-noise firing.
To see your opponents and take accurate aim, you'll need a good sight. A scope is an even better choice for the paintball sniper. If your marker does not come with a scope, you can always purchase one for it. The next thing to think about is how your sniper marker looks. Because a sniper's objective is to remain unseen, choose a marker that's colored in a dark or drab color, or even camouflage. Stay away from shiny metal or bright colors which could be more easily detected.
When shopping for paintball sniper rifles, be sure to handle a few before making a final decision. It's important that you feel comfortable handling the rifle you choose, and that it is not too heavy. Snipers must be able to hold their rifles steady for extended periods of time, and a rifle with too much weight can make this difficult. Obtaining recommendations from other paintballers is one way to learn more about the best types of markers for sniping, so ask around if you're having trouble choosing. Paintball magazines can also be great sources of information about the sport and its equipment.
